Camera Navigation

Sumugi's 3D View uses camera controls similar to a first-person 3D game, making it quick to pick up if you've played games before.

Moving Through the Scene

Use the following keys to move the camera through the scene:

DirectionKeyArrow Key
ForwardW
LeftA
BackwardS
RightD
UpR
DownF

Orbiting & Panning

Use your mouse or trackpad to orbit and pan the camera around the scene.

Zooming to an Asset

To quickly zoom the camera to focus on a specific asset, double-click the asset in the Outliner panel on the right side of the screen.

Camera Views

Sumugi offers three camera modes to suit different stages of scene building:

Capture View - shows exactly what will appear in your final panel. The lighter rectangle overlay on the viewport represents the capture frame, anything inside this frame is what gets saved when you press Capture. Use this view when framing your shots.

Free View - lets you freely explore and edit the 3D scene without affecting the capture frame. Use this when placing assets, adjusting poses, or making broad changes to the scene.

Map View - a top-down bird's-eye view of the scene. Useful for navigating larger environments and positioning assets relative to each other. The height cutoff slider in the bottom right lets you clip the view at a set height, removing ceilings or rooftops so you can see inside enclosed spaces.

You can switch between these views using the Camera View Switches on the right side of the 3D viewport.

Tip: Only what appears inside the Capture frame in 3D View will appear in your story panel. Use Free View and Map View to set the scene, then switch to Capture View to frame your final shot before pressing Capture.
